Trip to PA – Part 5 – Martin’s Pretzel’s

Posted by djw209 on June 4, 2009

I LOVE pretzels…and when my Mom, Aunt Nikki, Aunt Robin, MIL and Chris (Robin’s friend from California) said that they were heading to a few pretzel factories I was all in. Our first stop of the day was a Mennonite Pretzel factory, Martin’s.

The ovens

The dough stretcher (I think)

Look at all that pastry flour!

This is where all the pretzel dough is made

No idea what this device is used for, but it’s kinda cool looking!

This place didn’t have a real tour, but the gentleman certainly told us a lot about their pretzel making – most of it I didn’t understand. I really need to brush up on my German accent!

Oh, and I did buy a 3 pound bag of pretzel pieces. Martin’s pretzels are my favorite and their pieces are delish!!

Pretzels are one of my weaknesses. I didn't realize I could go tour a bunch of the factories. The only one I ever went to was Troyer Farms up near Erie.
